The Challenge

Before Sallybase, Client X, a banking enterprise, managed its data storage and backups in-house at a location only 10 miles from their main production site. The close proximity of the backup site to the main production facility presented a significant risk, as a disaster at one location could also affect the other.

Client X needed a backup partner that could provide geographic diversity and manage their data securely, so it would be ready in the event of a disaster. Other disaster recovery partners were unable to provide the versatility and expertise required by Client X.

The Solution

Sallybase's representatives met with Client X to assess how they could optimize the client's data storage and recovery needs. Client X sought a solution that would offer geographical security and disaster recovery expertise, while allowing them to continue operating their in-house, business-critical services using their existing equipment.

In response, Sallybase's technicians seamlessly moved Client X's backup equipment to Sallybase's secure, audited, and managed data center. The Sallybase team also virtualized several devices using VMware technology, implemented geographically protected storage for the data, and included built-in disaster recovery features.

The Results

With Sallybase, Client X achieved its primary goals. The client now has effective and powerful disaster recovery solutions for its critical data without being forced to change its in-house operations. Client X also has the benefit of knowing exactly where its data is stored and who can access it.

Since implementing the new solution, Client X has experienced a 100% recovery rate. The client faced several disasters, including environmental damage and equipment malfunctions. In these instances, Sallybase restored their virtual environments and moved the data to a secure server. The Sallybase technicians were able to get the client back to 100% functionality within a couple of hours, significantly outperforming their recovery time objective (RTO).
