In military operations, split-second decisions and precise positioning are paramount. While Global Positioning System (GPS) technology transformed battlefield awareness over the past few decades, its Achilles' heel remains well known: GPS fails where steel, concrete, or subterranean earth block the sky.
In modern tactical scenarios—ranging from multi-story urban centers and underground command posts to dense ammunition depots—relying purely on satellite navigation leaves critical blind spots.
Enter Atlas BLE, a hybrid indoor and outdoor positioning system built on Flutter. By fusing Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon networks with smartphone inertial sensors and intelligent map matching, Atlas BLE provides military personnel with seamless, uninterrupted navigation where traditional GPS cannot reach.
Whether executing tactical drills inside reinforced structures or managing logistics across vast cantonments, military teams face several navigational hurdles:
Signal Occlusion: Heavy concrete walls and underground military infrastructure degrade or entirely cut off satellite GNSS signals.
Complex Multi-Modal Transitions: Troops frequently transition between open outdoor terrain and enclosed buildings. Switching between different mapping platforms during a mission creates unwanted friction and delay.
Operational Latency: Delayed route adjustments during stress scenarios or night drills increase confusion and risk mission failure.
Atlas BLE overcomes these obstacles by creating an integrated, real-time data fusion pipeline designed for low latency and high accuracy.

Rather than relying on a single data source, Atlas BLE continuously aggregates information from multiple streams:
BLE Beacons: Broadcast proximity, timestamp, and RSSI signal strength to pinpoint broad locations.
Inertial Dead Reckoning: Utilizes onboard device sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, and step counters) to track directional movement and step count.
Kalman Filtering: Filters out signal "noise" and multipath reflections caused by concrete and metal structures, keeping spatial calculations
